DETAILS
Day 1: Arrival
You will be welcomed by our guide at the airport on arrival and be briefed on the 15 days trip as you continue to the lodge where you will spend the first night. Dinner will be served at lodge.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
You will leave the lodge early morning heading to Murchison Falls National Park; you will enjoy the beautiful country side of the pearl of Africa as you continue to Murchison. Ther will be a lunch break at Kabalega Hotel in Nakasongola and thereafter proceed arriving in the afternoon to catch up with the ferry crossing to the park. You will climb to the top of the falls to enjoy the beautiful aerial views of the falls. Retire at the lodge for relaxation and dinner that evening.
Day 3: Game drive and Boat cruise at Murchison
The morning breakfast will be served and then launch an exciting game viewing experience in one of Uganda’s largest and oldest National Parks. Elephants, leopard, buffalos, giraffes, warthogs, waterbucks and several other wildlife will be met as you manoeuvre through the tracks with our experienced guides. Return later to the lodge for lunch break and thereafter launch boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. You will enjoy the great views of the falls as the Nile forces its way through a 5 meter gorge before exploding to the bottom where your boat is. This amazing experience also rewards you with a close view of wildlife like the Nile crocodiles, hippos, birds, antelopes, buffalos and elephants feeding on the river banks. Retire at the lodge later for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After your breakfast this day, you will transfer to Kibale National Park the home of Uganda’s largest population of Chimps and other primates. Kibale harbours over 13 different species of primates which is why it is sometimes referred to as the primate capital of East Africa. You will have a visit to the tea plantation to explore the entire process from plantation to the final product and proceed to Kibale national park arriving in the evening hours. Dinner and night stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Track the Chimps and Nature walk
Breakfast will be served very early to allow you join the rest of the guests at the assembly point of the Park for briefing on tracking the chimps. You will then hit the jungle in search for the chimpanzees led by a team of guides. The chimps are habituated which means they are used to the presence of humans. After few minutes or hours of trekking in the forest, you will meet the chimps in their group as they go about their daily lives feeding, resting or even playing. The Chimps are believed to share 98% DNA with humans and this will be seen in their behaviour during the tracking time. After one full hour with them you will be led back to the starting point to have some rest and lunch with your guide. You will then launch a nature walk to Bigodi swamp with in Kibale national park to catch up with the other mammals, birds, primates and plant species. Retire at the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After the morning breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a journey to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park in the western part of the pearl of Africa. Queen is home to thousands of wildlife like the lion, leopards, wild dogs, African hyena, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, baboons and many bird species. This park is also known for the famous Kazinga channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. You will arrive in the late afternoon and rest at the lodge ahead of a busy day. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.
Day 7: Game drive and Boat cruise at Queen National Park
After breakfast at the lodge this morning, you will together with our experienced guide head to the park for a morning game drive to catch up with the early risers. You will have a chance to set your eyes on the big 5 like the lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, waterbucks and several bird species. Return to the lodge to rest and have lunch and thereafter launch the exciting boat cruise to Kazinga channel where you will see the hippos, crocodiles, birds and other wildlife at the river banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Breakfast will be served in the morning and then set off through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth Park as you connect to Bwindi National Park. You will have an enroute game drive through the park to watch the tree climbing lions resting in the tree branches or sometimes hunting other wildlife. Continue through Kanungu and arrive at Bwindi in the evening and rest at the lodge. Dinner and night stay at the lodge.
Day 9: Gorilla tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast in the morning, you will transfer to the park offices with your guide and join other guests for briefing on Gorilla tracking activity. You will then be guided to the forest in search for the gentle giants for the park. Depending on the movement of the Gorillas, it may take you between 30 minutes to half a day to meet the habituated Gorillas. You must prepare your body to hike in the mountains for many hours in search for the Gorillas. After hours of trekking, you will meet the mountain Gorillas as they go about their daily activities in their natural habitat. You will be guided on what to do by the guides during this time in the presence of the Gorillas. After this mind-blowing experience for an hour, you will be led back to the starting point and be awarded a tracking certificate as an appreciation for participating in conservation of the Gorillas. You will then leave Bwindi and drive to Lake Bunyonyi in the neighbouring district. You will retire at a lakeside lodge where your dinner will also be served.
Day 10: Explore the different Islands
After breakfast, you will be taken on a boat ride to explore the different Islands with farmland, homesteads and others historical and special to this area. Return to the lodge later and have your lunch in time. Optional activities this afternoon include zip lining and Cycling by the lake side. You can also choose to rest in the afternoon by the lakeside and swim in the croc-free fresh waters. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 11: Cultural excursion visiting the Iron smelting
After breakfast at the lodge, you will head out for a cultural expedition as you visit the community to explore their different cultures. You will then continue to visit the iron smelting area in this area to see how different weapons are made locally from different metals. Return to the lodge later and spend the evening relaxing as you watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight at the same lodge.
Day 12: Transfer to Rwanda and do cultural excursion
After your breakfast at the lodge, you will leave Bunyonyi and head to Rwanda crossing through Gatuna border and drive to Kigali city arriving in a few hours. You will immediately have a visit to the local markets in the city and also have a chance to attend cultural performances to have a feel of the Rwandan culture. Proceed to Ruhengeri and check in at a lodge in the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 13: Golden Monkey Tracking
After breakfast, you will join other visitors at the briefing point for guidance before hitting the jungle in search for the most endangered primates the Golden Monkeys. After several hours trekking in the forest, you will meet these habituated shy primates with gold-like fur. You will be allowed for a full hour with them and then be led back to meet your guide. You will head for your lunch and drive off to Kigali where you will spend the night at a hotel.
Day14: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Breakfast will be served before you leave Kigali transferring to Lake Bunyonyi mid-morning. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and be served and allowed to rest for the long journey back to Kampala/Entebbe the following morning.
Day 15: Transfer to Kampala proceeding to Entebbe for departure
After your breakfast this morning, you will set off very early and get on a 6-7 hour journey to Kampala/Entebbe for departure. There will be a lunch break at Lyantonde and then proceed to Kampala.
