4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Lake Bunyonyi is an experience that will give you the best African experience from the magical encounter with the mountain Gorillas to exploring the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi in south western Uganda. Mountain gorillas are the most visited primates while Lake Bunyonyi ranks as the second deepest Lake in Africa. You will take part in various activities on and around the Lake such as swimming, community visits, birding and boat cruising among others.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer from Kigali to Lake Bunyonyi
You will be picked from the airport on arrival at the airport in Kigali and immediately be on the move to Gatuna border and continue to Kabale town continuing to Lake Bunyonyi. You will check in at the lodge and have your lunch before launching a boat ride to explore the beautiful Islands of Lake Bunyonyi. The Islands are covered with farmland and others are historical Islands as will be shared by the guide. Return to the lodge later and retire at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking at Bwindi
After breakfast at the lodge, you will leave Bunyonyi very early and drive to Bwindi National park and be at the briefing point by 7am. You will be joined with other tourists to form eight member groups to track the Gorillas. You will then hit the wilderness in search for Gorillas and on finding them; you will be allowed to be with them for one hour. The Gorillas are habituated and can be tracked without causing any harm to the tourists. You will then return to the starting point to find your driver and transfer back to Bunyonyi for lunch. Spend the evening at leisure by the lake side and you could choose to swim in this crocodile free water body. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Ziplining and Community tour
After an early breakfast, you will head out for an exciting community tour to the local communities around Lake Bunyonyi. You will meet school going children, adults traveling to their gardens which is exactly what life is like in this area. You will also visit the iron smelting points where the locals make weapons and other items from heated metals. Return to the lodge for lunch later and then go for the amazing zip lining and kayaking experience over the lake in the afternoon.
Day 4: Return to Kampala
After a heavy breakfast on this day, you will set off from Bunyonyi and head for Kigali with a lunch break in the city.
